Andrea & Logan: St. Joseph's Cathedral Wedding
One of the most fun and gorgeous weddings I have had the privilege to be a part of was a true South Dakota showcase. Throughout the planning process, Andrea and Logan never lost sight of the real reason for their celebration; to share their love with friends and family from near and far. Creating a romantic day, while focusing on local quality, guest enjoyment, and timeless elements was the motivation behind each decision. Anchored by the venues, St. Joseph's Cathedral for the ceremony and the Meadow Barn for the reception, the couple featured two of South Dakota's most premier and photogenic locations. By staying consistent with the highest quality local vendors, the couple was able to showcase how deeply their commitment to their South Dakota roots runs. Incorporating unique details such as cutting the cake with Logan's Marine saber, serving mead made by the groom's own small business venture, Panacea Meadery as their signature drink, and having a family friend craft the bridal bouquets allowed the couple to showcase the personalized details of their day.
Andrea & Logan’s busy schedules meant that having a planner was instrumental in tackling each stage of the planning process. I was able to accomplish much of the planning behind the scenes so that when we did have a magic moment in which schedules cooperated, we were able to cross multiple items off our checklist.
In a day filled with heart-warming moments and gorgeous details, the culmination would have to be the balloon drop during the first dance. This element was included by the bride's mother and orchestrated to perfection by the planner, DJ, photographer, venue, and balloon company. Andrea had previously asked for a balloon installation during the dance, but to keep the balloon drop a surprise from even the bride, Andrea was informed that the venue had strict rules which didn’t allow for such an installation. Putting this to rest in her mind meant that when those balloons start to shower down on her and Logan, the look on her face is a priceless combination of childlike joy and true surprise. Pulling the cord to drop those balloons is a memory that gives me goosebumps to this day! I hope you enjoy these beautiful photos!
